A holiday staple in Kansas City is a trip to Union Station. On December 3, families will have the opportunity to make lasting memories, while teaching their children the value of helping others this season.
For one in six Kansas City-metro children, the upcoming holidays often mean going without meals. Many low-income families in the community struggle to feed their children during extended holiday school breaks without access to free and reduced-priced school lunches.
Harvesters’ BackSnack program provides packs of nutritious food to more than 20,000 students in Kansas City and surrounding communities, so they don’t go hungry over weekends at home. The need for these packs of nutritious food more than doubles during the holiday school break.
Families can join Harvesters at the first-ever Big BackSnack Give Back event, a community packing event created for the entire family. Volunteer together during the giving season, so no child goes hungry during the holidays.
