Kansas Day Open House
Did you know that January 29 is Kansas Day? Kansas entered statehood on January 29, 1861 with multiple complicated Constitutional Conventions, freestate raids, votes for or against slavery and new settlement. The first legislative vote for statehood took place at the Shawnee Indian Mission! Kansas was the 34th state in the Union and this state holiday was established in 1877.
