The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art stands in solidarity with the city and the nation in response to the coronavirus, and will close effective Saturday, March 14 through Friday, April 3. During that time, the museum will halt all events and public access to the museum.
“We recognize that during challenging times, art can be a source of inspiration, comfort, and human expression,” said Julián Zugazagoitia, Menefee D. and Mary Louise Blackwell CEO & Director of the Nelson-Atkins. “The Nelson-Atkins will continue to be that source, and we encourage our guests to visit online for information and updates.”

Drawn from the world-renowned Museo Egizio in Turin, Italy, the exhibition will bring together works that present the richness of life in ancient Egypt, focusing on the role of women—goddesses, queens, and commoners.
Queen Nefertari: Eternal Egypt will provide a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the discovery of the tomb of one of the most famous figures of the time. Works of art from the excavations will bring ancient Egypt to life for 21st-century audiences.
