Celebrating Kansas Cowboys!

West Fest is our annual event for children and families.

Activities included with Museum admission. Free to Kansas Historical Foundation members!

• Explore new museum exhibits
• Climb inside the full-sized covered wagon, a great photo op!
• Gallop through the gallery on stick ponies
• Enjoy one wagon or stagecoach ride with each admission from Mahaffie Stage Stop and Farm

Many free activities!

• 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Free hot dogs and chips while supplies last.
• Live music by Kaw Valley Cornet Band
• Demonstrations by Kansas artists
• Face painting
• Candle dipping
• Pinata party
• Make hand-cranked ice cream
• Build a log cabin
• Rope a steer
• Sing around a campfire
• Watch a cowboy cook over a fire pit, quilter, woodcarver, glass blower, button maker
• Photo opportunities
• Meet Nevada the mustang and Sundance the miniature horse
