West Fest is our annual event for children and families.
Activities included with Museum admission. Free to Kansas Historical Foundation members!
- Explore new museum exhibits
- Climb inside the full-sized covered wagon, a great photo op!
- Gallop through the gallery on stick ponies
- Enjoy one wagon or stagecoach ride with each admission from Mahaffie Stage Stop and Farm
Many free activities!
- 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Free hot dogs and chips while supplies last.
- Live music by Kaw Valley Cornet Band
- Demonstrations by Kansas artists
- Face painting
- Candle dipping
- Pinata party
- Make hand-cranked ice cream
- Build a log cabin
- Rope a steer
- Sing around a campfire
- Watch a cowboy cook over a fire pit, quilter, woodcarver, glass blower, button maker
- Photo opportunities
- Meet Nevada the mustang and Sundance the miniature horse
