Fall weather is in full swing in November, which makes it a perfect time to hop aboard the streetcar for a fun date day!
Stop 1: River Market North/3rd & Grand
Located in the River Market, City Diner is a no-frills eatery that has been serving up breakfast and lunch since they first opened in 1937. Multiple generations have enjoyed their classic homestyle fare like biscuits and gravy, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, chicken fried steak, grilled cheese and burgers — plus, their gigantic 12-inch buttermilk pancakes. And Folgers coffee! For a truly authentic experience, grab yourself a barstool and belly up to the bar like the locals do. The black-and-white checkered bar top, awnings and original checkered floors just add to the ambiance of the place. City Diner is very small, has limited seating, and tends to get extremely busy on the weekends, so plan ahead. Oh, and be sure to go hungry. The portion sizes are quite generous.

Stop 2: Metro Center/12th & Main
The College Basketball Experience, which is attached to the T-Mobile Center, houses the College Basketball Hall of Fame, as well as two floors of highly interactive and highly energetic activities, all centered around basketball. You can see how your shoe size, height, vertical reach and wingspan stack up against some of the most famous college basketball players. You can also test your skills at free throws, three-pointers, baskets made, dunking and more. Keep in mind that you’ll need to wear athletic shoes for some of the activities, so plan ahead. We found this to be a fun way to burn off some calories and engage in a little friendly competition.

Stop 3: Union Station/Pershing & Main
One of our favorite places to visit in Kansas City is the grounds of the National WWI Museum and Memorial. It’s beautiful at all times of day, but especially in the evening near sunset. And going up in the Liberty Memorial Tower is always a treat — such great views of the city. You can make your own ascent during normal museum hours for just $6 per person. Occasionally the tower is accessible after hours as well — be sure to follow Liberty Memorial on Facebook to find out when that is offered. If you want to extend your time at the grounds, we highly recommend a visit to the museum (which is amazingly well done) followed by a picnic lunch or dinner on their beautiful lawn.
