Easter Bunnies: Save on those Easter Basket Goodies!

Easter has snuck up on this Easter bunny this year…maybe because as recently as last week it still seemed like the middle of winter!  But today marks one day until the Easter Bunny visits and you may be scrambling to fill up those Easter baskets.  Here are a few ideas to fill up the basket for less.

·         Raid your Stash:  If you have been reading my posts for a while, you know that I’m a huge fan of buying things ahead of time on clearance.  I have a nice stash of odds and ends that I purchased on clearance after Christmas and even some from last Easter!  If you have things you bought with next Christmas in mind, look through them to see if you can  use anything in the Easter basket.  Don’t worry if there is a little bit of Christmas packaging…especially for younger kids!

If you don’t have a stash to raid…no worries!  Here are a bunch of deals that you can get this week!

·         All Melissa & Doug products are 45% off on Barnes & Noble online.  Check out the selection HERE.  You will get free shipping when you spend $25 or more, but order quickly…shipping takes 3-5 days!  I love the Dinosaur Stamp Set for $5.47!

·         There are some great Easter gifts for less than $10 at Amazon.com.  These Hide & Squeak Eggs for $9.80 look great for babies/toddlers.  And who doesn’t love Max & Ruby?  Get them both for $9.49!  Pick up a cute Max’s Easter Surprise book for $3.99 to go with them!   Or if you are looking for a religious themed book, check out “The Week that Lead to Easter” for $2.49.

·         CVS has all of their Easter toys 25% off this week.  There are a lot of things that would be great for Easter baskets for less than $10.  My kids favorite thing last year hands down were the dinosaur eggs…you put them in water and little dinosaurs “hatch” out of them.  Those are about $2 at CVS with the sale.

·         Target has a lot of toys and games on sale this week.  Check out the Target ad here.  You can get Bop It for just $7 after using the $5/1 manuf. Coupon HERE and the $3/1 Target coupon HERE.  You will also get a free card game with your purchase of any Hasbro game that is $10 or more.  While you are at Target, make sure to swing through the Dollar section at the front of the store…there are lots of great fillers there for Easter baskets for both boys and girls.

·         Leapster Games:  If your child has a Leapfrog hand-held game system, you can get a good deal on a couple of games at Target this week.  The Tinkerbell, Pet Pals, and Jedi Math games are on sale for $15 each.  Use the $5/1 coupon HERE (print and use two) and combine that with the Target store coupon for $5 off a $30 Leapfrog purchase that can be found at Target.com and get each game for $7.50 when you buy 2.

·         If you are the crafty kind, make a couple of these cute little wash cloth bunnies to hold their Easter eggs.  You can usually find inexpensive wash cloths at the dollar store or at Walmart or Target to make them with.  They are SO cute!

·         Check out these cute egg chalks from Pottery Barn Kids for $5.99!  Shipping is free, too!  (I think Target has some similar to these, as well…not sure on the price).
