Making the Most of the White Christmas

Generally, I am not a huge fan of snow. I like it when it is actually snowing (up to an inch or two). I stop liking it when I have to drive in it, it gets slushy, or when it gets all tracked up. Although I always say I would like a white Christmas, I actually am hoping for nothing more than a dusting.

Needless to say, I was not terribly excited when it started snowing on Christmas Eve. I wasn’t all that excited when it continued to snow through the night and into Christmas morning, and I wasn’t excited as it continued to snow throughout the day yesterday. I am definitely ready for it to stop snowing now (Saturday morning).

I do have to admit though, that my children’s excitement at having a white Christmas has rubbed off on me a little. My boys were very excited about the snow and were truly awed when they got up Christmas morning (this is probably the biggest snow storm they have ever seen). The snow was almost worth it when I bundled the boys and my little girl up (after opening up all their Christmas presents of course) and we headed outside, before leaving for their grandparent’s house. As I shoveled, the kids made snow angels, built snow forts, threw snow balls, and pulled out the sleds. Watching them enjoy the winter weather was truly special.

Although I know the white Christmas affected many peoples travel plans and made driving treacherous (I have to push us out of the snow twice yesterday), it was almost worth it watching the kids play.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and has a great New Year.
