Editor's Letter: Fall/Winter 2012

What a great time to be living in Kansas City! Our city recently welcomed LEGOLAND® Discovery Center and Sea Life Aquarium. The Kansas City Zoo is getting better and better with the recent addition of the Tiger Trail, and the new Kauffman Performing Arts Center is a jewel in the crown of our city’s downtown skyline. This year, the Kauffman Center is bringing even more new family-friendly shows to the stage with Starlight’s children’s winter production of The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, many great symphony and ballet performances and more.

It’s exciting to celebrate the new with our children, but it is also special to share treasured traditions. Autumn always means a craving for apple cider donuts from Louisburg Cider Mill, great photo ops in local pumpkin patches and hayrides. And holidays are filled with tradition as we enjoy the KC Rep’s annual production of A Christmas Carol, the KC Ballet’s annual production of The Nutcracker and, of course, the Country Club Plaza Lighting Ceremony on Thanksgiving.

Our family also enjoys making memories at Kansas City’s off-the-beaten-path destinations. Whether it is selecting the perfect outfit for a beloved doll at The Doll Cradle, enjoying a birthday tea at Henry’s Tea Room, trying a new restaurant or touring one of Kansas City’s historic sites, it is always great fun to try something new.

And, that is just what KC Going Places is all about. Whether you’ve lived in Kansas City your entire life, or you’re a new visitor, you’ll find there is always something new to discover in Kansas City!
