Welcome to my hometown! Spring and summer are new beginnings for our city. Favorite attractions like Worlds of Fun and the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead are open for the year again. The Royals are playing at Kauffman Stadium. And the smell of barbecue is in the air!

This time of year, we love enjoying our green spaces, including the lawn of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, soon welcoming a new art-inspired miniature golf course. Powell Gardens has a remarkable Frida Kahlo exhibit this season, and the Overland Park Arboretum’s garden trains inspire visitors of all ages.

We love our city and we hope you do too! As you flip the pages of KC Going Places, you’ll learn of our signature fountains and their rich history, some of our most famous citizens and historic sites, as well as discovering the newest attractions, exhibits and events this season.

Visitors often ask me, “If you only have a few days, what would you see?” A one-size-fits-all answer is impossible—the area has so much to offer! We’ve collected a great “Three-Day Itinerary for Families,” and a variety of itineraries in each district for everyone from the foodie to the daredevil, the shopper to the historian.

For a quick overview of the city, be sure to visit downtown where you can enjoy shopping at Crown Center, creating art with children at Kaleidoscope, view the city from the top of the tower at the National WWI Museum and Memorial, and explore Union Station. Take a ride aboard the free KC Streetcar, where you can enjoy stops along the way, including the KC Power & Light District and City Market.

These are just a few of our favorite ways to explore our city. You’ll find many more as you flip through the pages of KC Going Places.

Welcome to Kansas City! We’re happy you’re here and we hope you love it just as much as we do!
