Enjoying Fall in Kansas City

by

The back-to-school shopping is done, the kids have headed back to school for a fresh start on a new year, and it’s time for apple and pumpkin spice season!  The weather should remain warm for a few more weeks, which means this is the perfect time to plan some fun family activities before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season fall upon us.

This autumn, create a bucket list (or at least plan of a couple of outings) including some fabulous activities Kansas City has to offer. Surprise the kids with one last trip to Worlds of Fun to soak up the last drops of summer. Limited seasonal hours last until the end of October. Then head into fall by embracing apple picking season. KC has a great selection of orchards, so whether you head to Alldredge Orchards in Platte City, Wagon Wheel Orchard in Gardner or Cider Hill Family Orchard in Kansas City, KS, apple picking is a simple and fun activity for all ages. Be sure to partake of some sweet apple cider and apple cider donuts! You’ll find a complete KC Apple Picking Guide here.

After getting your apple fix, it’s time to focus your attention on pumpkin season. Young children delight in choosing the perfect pumpkin, but young and old alike will have a grand time at the amazing pumpkin patch experiences offered around the area. Check out all the great patches in the area for not only pumpkins, but also zip lines, corn mazes, jumping pillows, petting zoos, live entertainment and more!  Check out our Kansas City Pumpkin Patch Guide where you’ll find details on all the best patches in town, including maps and directions.

For a calmer approach to embracing fall, head to an area nature center to enjoy the change of seasons. Also remember to head out to Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead before they close for the winter months at the end of October.
