    The Santa- Cali-Gon Festival is Kansas City’s longest held Labor Day Tradition and it’s one you don’t want to miss! One of the area's largest festivals takes place Friday-Monday in Independence on the Square. The Annual Festival is a celebration of Westward Expansion and the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon Trails. Festival on Independence Square with food and craft booths, live musical entertainment and a carnival.

    You can also enjoy another visit to Worlds of Fun! The Park is open Labor Day Weekend, Sat-Mon! Rock the Light! 

    This year marks the 10th Annual Rock the Light Music Festival at Starlight! Rock the Light is the Midwest's largest contemporary Christian music festival featuring more than 40 bands. The Festival is held Sept 4th – 5th and features the best in Christian music. For tickets, click here.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game! 

    Did the summer heat deter your inner baseball fan from spending a night sweating in the stands? No worries! September games are the best for a cool night at the K! Friday, September 4th is Buck Night so families can enjoy Hot Dogs, Pepsi, and Peanuts for just $1. The game will conclude with a fantastic Fireworks Display. The Royals face the Angels at 7:10. Celebrate Trains!

This Labor Day, local train fans have two great choices to ride the rails! 

    The Midland Railway will be hosting the Midland Railfest Saturday through Monday. Take a road trip to Baldwin City, Kansas, and enjoy a family festival and trip on the rails. For more information, click here

    The Belton & Grandview Railroad is hosting a Labor Day Train Ride on Monday from 2-3pm. Tickets are $8.50/ea (2 and under are free). For more information, click here.

Free Music Under the Stars!

Our favorite choices for FREE Live Music this weekend are: 

    Pops in the Park: FREE Kansas City Symphony Performance at Shawnee Mission Park. Celebrate America’s music from Broadway to Patriotic Selections to Hollywood Soundtracks. Young children will enjoy the Instrument Petting Zoo. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and pack snacks. The concert will be held on September 5th at 7pm. Gates open at 5pm. 

    Live at the Legends: FREE Concert. All summer, the Legends has hosted the best in local entertainment and once again you can enjoy a FREE outdoor summer concert at the Legends. The Concert will be held on September 7th from noon-3pm.
