Brumble's Forest at Meadowmere Park

The Kansas City area is bursting with fabulous parks and playgrounds for families to enjoy. We, at KC Parent, love sharing the Best Parks in KC with our readers and this summer, as part of the 100 Days of Summer Blog, we'll be exploring individual parks and sharing their amenities with you in photo blogs showcasing the creative spaces that make them special!

First up: Brumble's Forest at Meadowmere Park. Brumble's Forest opened as a brand new playground in Grandview, MO last year. Since that time, it has become a part of the community landscape and a welcome creative place for kids to enjoy.

Our TOP TEN Favorite Things about Brumble's Forest at Meadowmere Park:

• The playground is gorgeous and creative! The forest theme is beautiful with the wooded landscape and it is one-of-a-kind in the metro. For kids who love nature, exploring, camping, and the great outdoors - the theme is inspirational.
• Lots and lots of fun ways to climb, play and explore!
• Several slides! Small, tall, twisty - something for everyone.
• Sand! My girls delighted in playing in the sand and enjoying the digger toys shoveling away.
• The trails are beautiful! With paths through woods, open spaces and fields (great for Frisbee or flag football), and bridges - the area was beautifully maintained and fun to explore.
• Restrooms with modern plumbing - no outhouses here! Running water, a clean place to wash hands, and a drinking fountain - all in clean working order.
• A skate park for teens.
• A beautiful large shelter with picnic tables.
• We saw lots and lots of families playing together - it truly is a community park.
• And, my most favorite thing about this park.... the playground has SWINGS! Real, classic, solid, tall swings. Swings a grown-up can enjoy (and I did). Swings a toddler can enjoy (and they did). And tire swings that spin like we did in grade school! If you are not prone to visiting lots of parks, you may wonder at my gushing at swings - after all, shouldn't / doesn't every park have them? Well, in a word... no. In fact, I find that fewer and fewer modern parks and playgrounds have swings at all - and the presence of fabulous quality swings at Meadowmere Park delighted me to no end!
