Couponing for Community

Using coupons is a great way to save money for your family, but it's also a great way to give to others in need without spending a lot.  We don't all have a lot of wiggle room in the budget that allows us to give as much as we would like.  But by using coupons and sales, the amount we DO give goes so much farther!  That is why I am so excited to once again be a part of Couponing for Community!  This year's event is happening next week, May 8-14.  For those not familiar with Couponing for Community, here is some information from the Facebook page:

Couponing for Community is a nationwide event utilizing the power of couponing and social media to make a united impact for those in need.

This is where Saving and Giving Unite.

We invite you to join this community by using your couponing skills to give to a homeless shelter, food pantry, or a friend in need during the week of May 8-14!

What is the Goal?

This year we are setting a goal of 10,000 items donated in one week’s time. We invite you to track your giving during the week of May 8-14 and then come back here to share your story. We'll even have a giving tracker to tally up everyone's efforts!!

Why May 8-14?

We are the kind of people who find ways to give all year long. But we have chosen to set aside one week each year to ‘flex our couponing muscles’ for GOOD and show the impact we can have when we work together. We also chose this week because May 14 is national Stamp out Hunger Day, so giving can be as easy as putting a bag of non-perishable food items out by your mailbox on Saturday, May 14. Check with your local Post Office to find out if they are participating at Stamp out Hunger.

So how can you participate?  It's up to you!  There are so many things you can do to use your couponing skills to give to others:

Once you have donated, visit the

Couponing for Community page and add your donation numbers to the total.  Their goal is 10,000 items donated next week...that should be a piece of cake!

I pledge to donate 25 items to a local shelter or food pantry through Stamp out Hunger and through my church.  I will likely get about half from my stockpile and half I will get using coupons/sales this week.  I will take photos and share them with you...I would love to see your photos, too!!  Post them on my Sara the Savvy Shopper Facebook page and leave a comment here letting us know how many items you are donating!  Even just 3-5 items will make a difference in someone's life!
