The Pizza Man
My husband LOVES Chicago style hot dogs with the works. Any time we are in the Windy City we need to make sure that one of our meals is hot dogs! I am happy to have found The Pizza Man in Lenexa where my husband can now go for his hot dog fix. So much closer to home and so yummy!
The Pizza Man is a family owned restaurant in a small strip mall. Owner Mike Klaersch grew up in Chicago and has brought a taste of his home town to our town. Mike and his wife Michelle purchased the restaurant four years ago. Once you step inside you know you are in a restaurant owned by a Chicago native. The walls are painted the colors of the Cubs and there are many scenes of Chicago all around.
After placing our order at the counter we found our table. Usually waiting for the food is difficult with children as they are hungry and low on patience. We didn’t have that problem at the Pizza Man. The restaurant is so relaxed and family friendly, no one seemed to mind my girls as they “played” the video games and moved around visiting with each other.
Much to my delight the food arrived quickly! Tori and Ally both enjoyed the pizza-lots of ooey gooey cheese on top of a thin crust. Of course if you prefer the Chicago style thick crust it’s also available. Tori devoured a side salad and gave it two thumbs up. I had the hot dog with the works (a Vienna hot dog brought in from Chicago) and tried a roast beef sandwich. Both were delicious! My friend had the veggie pizza and shared a slice with me-I loved the fact that there were both green and black olives on the pizza!
The Pizza Man is not only a great place to dine out with the kids, but also a great option for pick-up. Several times I’ve asked my husband to bring home dinner from Pizza Man on those nights I just don’t feel like cooking. Each time we all get exactly what we want and it arrives ready for us to enjoy.
Like most, my kids love pizza and could eat it every day. Thanks to the menu’s choices The Pizza Man is a great option for families. Its great food and family friendly atmosphere make it the perfect choice when mom needs a night off.
