The Search for Time

Last week for my family was HECTIC! I'm student teaching right now, so this change alone to our schedule and daily routine has really kept us all on our toes.  Last week, however, we were busier than usual, and it seemed like we were only in the house to sleep. Ever have a week like that?

Monday night, I had class at Rockhurst University.  I'm getting my Master's of Ed through Rockhurst, and once every 3 weeks, I make the long trip from southern JoCo to Rockhurst. I left school late, so I had to send my husband to pick up our daughter from daycare. Class goes until 8:15, so by the time I get out of there and drive home, it's almost 9:00. I'm hungry (since my 2nd brown bag of the day just didn't seem to satisfy for dinner), I need to take a shower, and I have lesson plans to prepare, among other things.

Tuesday night, I helped take care of my grandma from 5-10:30 at night, so my mom could go to the Dinner Theatre with some friends.

Wednesday night, I had a birthday dinner for my mom to attend at a local restaurant, along with 25 other female cousins. It was a lot of fun, but we were gone from 6 until almost 10 at night. Late nights!

Thursday night, I joked with my husband that I actually was going to get to see him, since we had a scheduled meeting that night with our financial advisor. Woo! What a date night, huh?

All that to say, we were exhausted by Friday, and in some serious need for time together. For all you moms and working moms out there, how do you find/make the time to be with your spouse? I realize that right now, "quantity" time is probably not going to happen, but we still need some time together apart from talking bills, finances, kids, schedules, etc. Have you found anything that has worked for you and your spouse?
