Time Away is Time Well Spent

A few friends of mine, who each have one kid between 15-18 months old, decided that it was time we help each other out. Sure, we get together for playdates with our kids, and that's fun for them and for us. But really, sometimes, we all just need a break! Just uninterrupted time.....time to read a book, run errands, get dinner started, maybe catch up on some chores that we are weeks behind, or maybe, just time to sit and do nothing! Whatever it is, we've decided we need it.

So starting this Wednesday, we are dropping our kids off at my friend Emily's house for 2 hours. We drop them off, and we leave! Finally, some time to ourselves to do what we want/need to do! And I really believe that this will refresh us as well! Then next week, we'll rotate, and maybe the kids will come to my house, or they'll go to another house. It's great social interaction for them, and much needed time off for Mom. Even if you just have one child, it's still important to take some time for yourself.

We are doing this once a week on Wednesdays from 10-noon. It's our designated time, our rotation will be starting up, and I really think this is going to be a good thing. Most likely, there are many more Moms out there who need a break, too. Maybe you should start up the same kind of thing with some other Moms you know and trust. I bet once you have a drop off week and some time to yourself, you'll be amazed at how much you really did need that time for yourself.

And I believe that time off makes you a better Mom as well, ready to serve your kids in a refreshed and joyful manner.
