Who's the Finest of them All

Not long ago, I found myself in the van with my three children. That, of course, was not unusual. It was the silence that was odd. Yet, everyone seemed content , so I simply enjoyed the peace and quiet while pondering some deep thoughts.

Well, perhaps “deep thoughts” is a bit of an overstatement. Truth be told, I actually found myself pondering Disney Princesses. Specifically, I found myself debating which of the princess stories is the most believable.

Obviously, I quickly ruled out Ariel from The Little Mermaid. A mermaid? Come on!

I have very limited knowledge of Pocahontas according to Disney, so she was out.

I thought about Cinderella and her sweet story, but then I got stuck on the glass slippers. Really? Can you say “Big Fat Blisters?”

On and on my thought process went until I decided my favorite is Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Sure, a man becoming a hideous beast is a bit far fetched. Yet, the idea of Belle loving him for his inner beauty is perfect.

As I admit to actually spending time thinking about this, I realize two things.

My four-year-old daughter isn't the only one who will enjoy exploring Princess Fun in KC this summer, and I might just need to feed my brain a little something that isn't geared toward the pint-size crowd.

So, make me feel better here. Surely I'm not the only parent who has spent a little time pondering some nonsense. Who is your favorite princess or superhero? Anyone remember She-Ra or He-Man?
