NEW Goat Kids at Kansas City Zoo

by

Five new Arapawa goat kids are bouncing around the Billy Goats Gruff Yard at the Kansas City Zoo! This endangered heritage breed of goat originates in New Zealand and has been gaining in numbers due to careful breeding by a handful of zoos in the United States. Our herd recently experienced a baby boom with five new additions!

Twins, a boy and a girl, were born to mom Gretel and triplets, two boys and one girl, were born to mom Poppy, all on Saturday, March 30. Both new moms are doing a fantastic job with these ram-bunctious kids! We’re seeking the public’s help in naming our triplets!

Our zookeepers have created a fun list of potential triplet names and the public can vote online for their favorite all weekend!

You can vote at kansascityzoo.org/name-our-goat-kids. The winning trio will be selected and announced on the Zoo’s Facebook page on Tuesday, April 7.

NOTE: Kansas City Zoo is currently temporarily closed. Call (816) 595-1234, or visit our web site www.kansascityzoo.org for more information.
