The Worst Thing About Spring

I love everything about spring. I love the warming air, the budding trees, and flowers pushing up from the ground. I love the added evening sunlight we get from Daylight Savings Time, Spring Break from school, and the start of the spring sports season (I am a huge baseball fan). This year, I have discovered one thing I don’t like about spring: Tuesdays.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Tuesdays in generally and I am not biased against spring Tuesdays. Generally I like Tuesdays. So why do I think that Tuesdays are the worst thing about spring this year? Well, it all has to do with timing.

My youngest son meets with his Braille tutor on Tuesdays from five to six and my oldest son meets with his reading tutor at the same time. This works out because they meet with their respective tutors at the same time, at the same place. Tuesdays are tricky though because my oldest son has soccer practice from 5:45 to 6:45 at one park and my youngest son has soccer practice from 6:00 to 7:00 at a different park. They are both going to be late to practice because of their respective tutors and I am still trying to figure out how I am going to be able to get them where they need to go in a timely manner. I am also trying to figure out when we are going to squeeze in dinner and homework.

I have tried to get at least one of the coaches to change practice days, with no luck so far. Even if they did agree to change, I don’t know what day would be any better as my oldest son has baseball practice on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturdays. We also have Braille and Occupational Therapy on Wednesdays and Braille on Thursdays. The only real day that would work is Friday. Who wants to spend their Friday evening at soccer practice, especially when you have a game the next morning?

Spring is a busy time for everyone, but why does everyone want to practice on Tuesday evenings? If I can get one of the soccer practices moved off of Tuesday, then Tuesdays will just be like every other day. Until that happens Tuesdays are the worst part of spring.
