Baseball and Father’s Day

This past week was supposed to be a busy baseball week for my family. We were supposed to have baseball practice last Saturday, which was rained out. We did get practice in on Monday, but our Tuesday night game was rained out. The game was rescheduled for Wednesday night and guess what, it was rained out. The game has been rescheduled for Sunday evening, which of course, is Father’s Day.

The problem is, we already have a game scheduled for Sunday. We now have a double-hitter on Sunday, which wouldn’t be too bad if the games were back to back, but the first game is at 1:00 p.m. and the second game isn’t until 5:30 p.m. Add in the fact that we had a game Thursday night and we have one Saturday evening and we are bordering on baseball overload. Now don’t get me wrong, I can’t think of a better way to spend my Father’s Day then at the ball park and one game would definitely be a Father’s Day bonus. Two games back-to-back would also be doable, but having a two-hour lay-off between games just kind of ruins the day.

If I was the only father we were celebrating on Sunday, I wouldn’t sweat it, but we need to get over and see my dad and we need to get over and see my wife’s dad. My father-in-law always has everyone over for dinner on Father’s Day, but it looks like we will have to miss the family get together this year because of baseball. With a game at 1:00 and a second one at 5:30, our ay will be spent at the ball park, with little time to do anything else. As much as I love baseball, I would like to be able to celebrate Father’s Day with all the fathers in my family instead of sweating it out at the baseball field.
