Family Fun Nights in KC
The weather has turned for the better, and the days are getting longer. Nights in Kansas City beckon you and your family, so stow your winter coats in the back of the closet and dust off the flip flops! Rain or shine, we have your family fun time covered.
Movie Night, Rain or Shine
- AMC Studio 30 in Olathe: This theater has done some updating, and the old concession stand and long lines are history. The new self-serve area now offers chicken tenders, curly fries, chef salads, veggie plates, dessert bites, popcorn, candy, bottled drinks, ice cream and milkshakes, as well as a new Freestyle dispenser by Coca-Cola. They also have a new reward program called AMC Stubs that gives you $10 for every $100 you spend. Other benefits include free upgrades on soda and popcorn, waiver of online ticket purchase fees and even an online ticket stub collection to document your movie experiences.
- The Boulevard and I-70 Drive-Ins: These iconic blasts from the past are still going strong in Kansas City. The Boulevard’s season opens this April with a new digital projector, along with digital sound. A date to put on the calendar right away is April 28. From 3:00 until 11:00, enjoy a Superheroes on the Boulevard event for $25 per carload. The fun will include a triple feature of superhero movies, moonwalks/inflatables, face painting, a balloon artist and much more. The theater is located just north of Roeland Park off I-35. I-70 Drive-In boasts the largest drive-in in Missouri with its multi-screen complex. A budget-friendly venue, the theater only charges admission for ages 12 and up!
A Little Family Competition at The Legends
- Dave and Buster’s: Located at The Legends, Dave & Buster's offers food, games, billiards and shuffleboard. When you put money on a Power card, your kids won’t have to fumble with coins or game tokens. Also, all day on Wednesdays, enjoy half-off games.
- Sporting KC and T-Bones: Livestrong Park, home to the Sporting KC men’s soccer team, is something to see. It is a fantastic venue to witness some of the best athletes show off their stuff. Every seat has a great view, as well as protection from the elements! We all know how unpredictable Kansas weather can be! Just next door, the T-Bones baseball team, which joined the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball league back in 2010, is kicking off their season on May 17. A ton of home games give Kansas Citians and visitors plenty of opportunities to watch the “boys of summer.” Cool things about this ballpark: a play area in full view of the game, more bathrooms than you can swing a bat at and a kid-sized concession stand with lower prices. Wednesdays are designated as family nights and have a Lil’ Chops Kids Club with all sorts of cool perks. Sounds like a home run to me!
