Cinemark Theatres Summer Movie Clubhouse: Two local Cinemark locations: the Country Club Plaza 526 Nichols Rd, KC, MO and Merriam 5500 Antioch, Merriam, KS. Shows run Mon-Thursday at 10am and Noon.  Purchase 10 Movies Passes for $5.00, or tickets can be purchased separately at the box office for $1.00 per show. Admission with a series punch card is limited to one person per card per movie, and valid only at the theatre where purchased. All films that have been selected are rated either G or PG. Alamo Kids Camp: Alamo Drafthouse Main Street Cinema 1400 Main St., KC, MO. FREE Moonlight Movies on the Square: Independence Moonlight Movies are shown every Thursday at 9pm throughout the summer. FREE Movie Night: Home Home is showing June 4 at  8pm at Providence Community Church, 10113 Lenexa Dr., Lenexa, KS. Bring the family, some chairs and enjoy the movie and popcorn under the stars.

Popcorn in the Park: Liberty Bennett Park in Liberty, MO. Presented by Liberty Parks and Recreation, Popcorn in the Park is a FREE, fun, family friendly outdoor movie screening. Enjoy free popcorn while you watch the movie. You may also bring your own snacks and beverages. Please remember, alcohol is strictly prohibited. Movies Under the Stars: Gladstone Starts at 8:30pm Linden Square, 602 NE 70th St, Gladstone. 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Grab your lawn chair or bring your blanket and a pillow and enjoy a movie on the big screen under the stars at Linden Square. Come out early to visit with friends and family and enjoy some leisure games and other activities before the movie. Concessions will be available. 2016 Schedule June 25: Goonies. July 23: Up. Night Out in North Kansas City June 24 from 6-10:30pm at Macken Park Festival Shelter, Corner of Clark Ferguson and Howell, North Kansas City. There will be a variety of emergency and construction vehicles on site for kiddo’s to check out up close. There will be inflatables and other kids activities for all to enjoy. You can purchase dinner from one of Kansas Cities food trucks and then you can stay for our movie in the park. We will be showing Muppets Most Wanted at approximately 8:45pm. 

FREE Movies in the Park: Blue Springs  Rotary Park, 600 NW Vesper St., Blue Springs, MO. Grab a blanket or bring your lawn chair and head to Rotary park for a FREE outdoor movie and popcorn under the stars. 2016 Schedule: June 3: Minions. August 26: The Good Dinosaur.

Movie Night at the Barn July 30 9-10:30pm at Shawnee Town 1929, 11501 W. 57th Street, Shawnee. Admission just 5 cents. Bring your lawn chairs or sit on the grass as we watch one of the highest grossing and most hilarious silent films of all times, The Circus. Charlie Chaplin wrote, directed and starred in the film which was nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Actor. We’ll be serving popcorn as we watch this 1928 classic homage to one of the all-time greats of the motion picture industry. The film is 1 hour and 10 minutes. It will be shown on the side of our farmstead barn. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets! Admission 1 nickel (just like the good ol’ days!).

Weekender at Crown Center Festivities begin at 5 p.m., music at 6 p.m., movie at approximately 9 p.m. Cap off your work week with top local bands and favorite food trucks. KC Library Off the Wall Series The Library’s annual Off-the-Wall film series presents a Bard-themed batch of films with a slightly offbeat take on William Shakespeare’s plays in Sorta Shakespeare: Offbeat Films Inspired by the Bard. Bring ye olde blankets and folding chairs to the Rooftop Terrace of the Central Library and enjoy an evening of downtown KC skyline cinema. Movies are shown on third Fridays, May through September, at 8:45 p.m. on the Central Library’s Rooftop Terrace. FREE Saturday Night Summer Movies: Briarcliff Village Briarcliff Trails of our Community proudly presented free outdoor movies for the whole family to enjoy! Movies are shown on Saturday nights during the summer at approx. 8:45 p.m./dusk at Mulberry Lake across from The Village at Briarcliff. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and snacks! Bring your families, blankets & lawn chairs and enjoy a fun-filled evening watching a free movie under the stars in your very own Harrisonville City Park! Movies start at dusk! Concessions will also be available to enjoy! 2016 Schedule June 24: Peanuts. July 22: Inside Out. 

FREE Movie Night in the Park: Oak Grove Bring the whole family out to Webb Park to enjoy some time together!  There will be a movie shown outdoors on the big screen.  So bring your blankets and chairs and settle in for a night under the stars. If there is bad weather, the movie will be rescheduled.  Movies will be announced closer to event dates. 2016 Schedule Movies shown June 10 and July 15.

FREE Movies in the Park: Grain Valley Summer movies continue in 2016!  The Armstrong Park Pavilion is the venue to catch some FREE family-friendly flicks.  Bring your blanket or lawn chairs, kids, and friends!  Movie titles are TBD and concession stand will be open. 2016 Schedule: June 3: The Good Dinosaur. July 8 and August 5 (Films TBD)

Free Movie in the Park: Grandview Grandview Amphitheatre, 13500 Byars Road, Grandview, MO. 2016 Schedule August 26: Toy Story. Movie will start at dusk.

Free Family Movie at the Olathe Downtown Library Olathe Downtown Library, 201 E. Park, Olathe. Kids. No registration is necessary, but space is limited. Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis starting 30 minutes before each show. The whole family is welcome, but kindergartners and younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult. 2016 Schedule June 6 1:30-3pm: Surf’s Up. June 8 9:30-11am: Surf’s Up. June 13 1:30-3pm: Peanuts. June 15: 9:30-11am: Peanuts.

 

Drive-In Theaters in the Kansas City Area

For more Summer Movie fun, trade in stadium seating for a bit of novelty this summer and take in a movie under the open sky. This summer, enjoy the nearly extinct novelty of the Drive-In Theater. Make it a family night and treat the kids to an evening they won't forget!
