Fireworks, parades, festivals, picnics and music! Kansas City celebrates Independence Day with a bang! Read carefully... our guide includes both events with and without fireworks.

Weather may result in some events changing plans. Please watch websites and Facebook notices CLOSELY before taking your kids to a fireworks display as schedules are subject to change. We will do our best to update this page, but all schedules are weather permitting.

Patriotic Fun

Red, White & Zoo June 30, July 1 & July 4 Kansas City Zoo, 6800 Zoo Dr., Kansas City, MO. In honor of our Independence Day, active and retired military individuals receive FREE admission to the zoo. All active and retired military personnel with valid ID will receive FREE Zoo admission. Families of active and retired military individuals will receive $1 off regular Kansas City Zoo admission. 

Firecracker Days June 25 – July 4 at Paradise Park, 1021 NE Colbern Rd, Lee's Summit, MO. Register all week to win FREE Paradise Park door prizes! Bonus Fun Card points, Max Pak add-ons and delicious summer food specials are features that come with the purchase of a Max Pak Unlimited wristband all week long!

Rocking in the USA: Make Funworks Various dates at Mid-Continent Public Library Branches. Celebrate Independence Day by making some funworks-cardboard creations you make to look like your favorite fireworks. Ages 6 and up. Register online at mymcpl.org/events

Flags 4 Freedom June 30 – July 7 at Merriam Marketplace, 5740 Merriam Dr., Merriam, KS. More than 1,500 United States flags will greet you in downtown Merriam. Stop by Merriam Marketplace, the Irene B. French Community Center, and along Merriam and Johnson drives to view an astonishing patriotic display. Don’t miss a free concert on Tuesday, July 4, at 1 p.m. at Merriam Marketplace – just bring a lawn chair. 

God & Country at Lenexa Baptist Church June 30 and July 1 at Lenexa Baptist Church, 15320 W 87th St Pkwy, Lenexa, KS. Come pray for our nation and salute those who served. June 22

Fireworks Family Fun Night June 22 from 7-10pm at Pyro City, 21501 E 275th St, Harrisonville, MO. Enjoy an evening of food, fun, and fireworks!! FREE games and food will start at 7:00pm with a FREE firework display to begin at dark! 

June 23

Fireworks at Evangel June 23 from 5-10pm at Evangel Church, 1414 E. 103rd Street, Kansas City, MO. Free inflatables, cheap meal deals, and one of KC’s premier fireworks displays! Want to run/walk in the 5K? Check out the Run to Serve the World 5K event and register at www.evangel.church/run

Freedom Fest June 23 at Greenwood, MO. Activities include carnival rides/inflatables, games for kids of all ages. Enjoy shopping with an eclectic group of vendors as well as a wide variety of food from KC area food trucks. Take a stroll through our always popular car show while listening to live music and make sure to stay late for the firework display. Fireworks at 9:30pm

June 28

Bonner Blast June 28 from 8:30-10pm at Kelly Murphy Park, 441 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd S, Bonner Springs, KS. Bring a chair and a friend and enjoy an evening of music, then stay for fireworks.

June 29

Lansing's Independence Day Celebration June 29 at Kenneth W. Bernard Community Park, 15650 Gilman Road, Lansing, KS. The event begins at 6:00 pm with inflatables and rides for the kids along with lots of food and beverages.  Local DJ Jeremiah Nichol will provide music for the evening. The event has free parking until 7 p.m. and free admission. Parking is $1 after 7 p.m. The field opens to the public at 5:30 p.m. There will be motorcycle and ADA parking on the field. There will be free parking and a shuttle from Lansing High School. Bring your chair! The last shuttle from LHS is at 9:15 p.m., and the gates close at 9:30 p.m. For kids’ inflatables, tickets are available for $1 each, wristbands are $12. Please be patient after the event. There are a lot of cars and only one exit. The rain date is Saturday, June 30. 

Parked- Food Trucks, Fireworks, Music, & Fun! June 29 from 5:30-9:30pm at Stump Park, 4751 Woodland Dr, Shawnee, KS. Enjoy Food Trucks, Music, Fireworks, Youth Cyclocross, bounce houses, and fun for the whole family! Enjoy a band and other special performances! Fireworks are at 9:30pm

June 30

Red, White & Blast June 30 from 6-10pm at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 1600 N State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Free Community Patriotic Celebration! Schedule: 6pm Kid-friendly activities, inflatables and food trucks. 7pm Glowsticks, giveaways and entertainment. 8pm Patriotic program, including a salute to veterans. Live Fireworks! Fireworks will begin at dark. (In case of inclement weather, music and program will be held inside the church Saturday evening. Fireworks will be shot off Sunday night, July 1.)

Booms & Blooms June 30 at Powell Gardens, 1609 N.W. U.Shighway 50, Kingsville, MO. Celebrate our nation’s independence with explosions of color and texture on land and in the air at this annual event. Arrive early to stake out a seat with your picnic blanket, enjoy hands-on activities and admire our ground-level blooms in the daylight. After sunset, music will accompany the choreographed blooms in the sky. Food and beverage vendors are featured throughout the entirety of the festival. Members receive free admission and free parking! Saturday, June 30, 2018 (Rain Date July 1) 

Spirit of America Celebration: Raymore June 30 at Recreation Park, 1011 S Madison St, Raymore, MO. Bring the family and some chairs for a great evening at the park. The festivities start at 7 p.m. with live music, food trucks, concessions, a bounce house and giveaways. Fireworks will begin at dusk. 

Family Fireworks Spectacular June 30 from 7:30-10pm at Cass County Fairgrounds, 308 W Commercial St,, Pleasant Hill, MO. Experience a spectacular night of fun, hot dogs, ice cream, bounce houses and an amazing professional fireworks display!  The Hern Group, one of the top real estate teams in the country wants to show our appreciation to all our clients and supporters in our real estate business. ** THIS IS A FREE EVENT. ** Be sure to bring lawn chairs for your entire family.

July 2

U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America "Shades of Blue" July 2 from 7-9pm at Mulberry Lake, 4100 N. Mulberry Dr, Kansas City, MO. Enjoy a live free patriotic concert! 

July 3

Fireworks in Kearney July 3 from 7:30-10pm at Kearney Amphitheatre, 3001 N Highway 33, Kearney, MO. Concert Begins at 7:30pm.  Fireworks Begin at 9:30pm. Fireworks music on 96.9 FM. Free Admission and Parking. Free Inflatable Attractions for Children. Concessions Available for Purchase. 

Legacy Blast July 3 from 5-10pm at Legacy Park, 1201-1501 NE Legacy Park Dr, Lee's Summit, MO. Enjoy a fun-filled event with concessions, free face-painting, balloon artists, and bounce houses for kids 12 and under. Fireworks start around 9:30PM. 

Independence Day Celebration: Independence, MO July 3 from 7-10pm at Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Pageant Grounds & Mormon Visitor Center, 937 W. Walnut, Independence, MO. Enjoy a great night of free, family-friendly fun. Gates will open at 6 p.m. and entertainment will start at 7 p.m. Attendees will also find snacks and non-alcoholic beverages this year. The fireworks will start at approximately 9:30 pm. and will be accompanied by the Spirit of Independence Concert Band. Please note alcohol, animals and outside fireworks are prohibited. No outside coolers will be allowed on the event grounds. 

Independence Day Fireworks: Westwood July 3 from 8-10pm at St. Agnes Athletic Field, 5250 Mission Rd, Roeland Park, KS. Fireworks will begin at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to walk to this event, as parking space is limited. In case of inclement weather, this event will be held on July 6th at the same location and time.

Liberty 4th Fest July 3 from 6-9pm at Fountain Bluff Sports Complex, 2200 Old State Hwy 210, Liberty, MO. FREE Family Fun Activities. DJ, ​Inflatables, Face Painting, Balloon Animals, Lawn Games, Temporary Tattoos, Fishing in the Stocked Ponds - a limited number of poles and bait will be available to use. 8 - 10 p.m. - Live Music from Lost Wax. 10 p.m. - Fireworks! Please remember: no open fires or grills, no pets, no personal fireworks and no outside alcohol are permitted. 

July 4

Four on the 4th July 4 from 6-9am at Garry Gribble’s Running Sports, 8600 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO. Throw on that red, white, and blue, this 4th of July and participate in Uncle Sam’s favorite race - Four on the 4th! Enjoy running/walking 4 beautiful miles of America along ward parkway as we celebrate Independence Day! Participants receive great tech shirts, festive giveaways. patriotic snacks, and finisher medals as bold and as charming as the American dream! 

Independence Day at Missouri Town 1855 July 4 from 9am-4:30pm at Missouri Town 1855, 8010 E. Park Rd, Lee's Summit, MO. Patriotic speeches, children’s games, period cooking, dancing, and militia marches are a few of the many interpretive activities. Everyone is invited to march down the main road in the traditional Missouri Town Independence Parade! 

Spirit of Kansas Blues Festival July 4 from 10am-11pm at Reynolds Lodge, Lake Shawnee, Topeka, KS. Opening ceremonies begin shortly before 11:00 a.m., and music continues until dark. A spectacular fireworks display then lights up the sky, sponsored by Capitol-Federal Savings and Loan. FREE admission! Attendees may bring shade tents (there will be a designated area), coolers/food, blankets and chairs. Food Trucks and Arts and Crafts vendors are in the area. Please, for safety reasons, NO GRILLS are allowed in the festival area. 

Village Fest July 4 at 7700 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS. The festivities will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a Pancake Breakfast ($5/plate) supplied by Chris Cakes. Event schedule coming soon! Activities from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.:  Tornado ride, Quad jump, Trackless train, Spirit Award ceremony, Children’s Parade - bring your bikes, trikes, wagons and roller skates! No registration required.  Child Craft center, Inflatable slides, Bounce houses, Face painting, Wacky hair, Petting Zoo, Pony Rides, Clement McCrae Puppets. Displays and demonstrations by Police and Fire District #2. Classic car show, Mr. Bones, and LIVE MUSIC throughout the day. VillageFest Crafters. 

Parkville 4th of July July 4 at Parkville, MO. Parkville’s traditional salute to Independence Day includes a pancake breakfast, a community parade, carnival rides, food, fun, games, shopping, music and, of course, our fabulous fireworks finale. Parade: The annual Parkville July 4th Celebration parade will begin at 10am.

July 4th in Weston July 4 in Historic Main Street District, Weston, MO. Enjoy a hometown parade at 10:30 am on Main Street featuring old cars, tractors, and firetrucks. Main Street will be closed to traffic and parking until after the parade. Following the parade in the city park will be a community lunch, lunches will be available for purchase or you can bring your own picnic basket. There will be games for kids, DJ, Music and Military recognition. Have fun this July 4th in Weston with old fashion patriotic spirit. 

Celebrating the 4th at the Farm July 4 from 9am-Noon at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, 13800 Switzer Rd., Overland Park, KS. This is a great way to get the entire family involved in some patriotic fun. Patriotic attire welcome. Bring your decorated bike and ride in the parade. 

Military Days at Worlds of Fun July 4 at Worlds of Fun, 4545 Worlds of Fun Dr, Kansas City, MO. Worlds of Fun wants to thank the men and women who have served and who are currently serving in our country’s military. Veterans of the American Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard receive complimentary admission to Worlds of Fun on the 4th of July. Complimentary tickets are available for active duty, reserve, or retired military (with honorable or medical discharge) and government issued ID. Veterans or active military members only will receive complimentary admission to Worlds of Fun, with the option to purchase up to six (6) discounted tickets for immediate family members. Please present valid government issued ID at any ticket sales window located at the Worlds of Fun or Oceans of Fun main entrance in order to receive your free tickets for military service, and to purchase military discount tickets for immediate family. 

Stilwell 4th of July Parade & Fireworks July 4 at Stilwell, KS. 5pm - Parade Registration and Line Up (192nd Street). Decorate your bike, golf cart, build a float and register to be in the parade. 6pm - Stilwell Community Parade. Parade Route in Stilwell (192nd Street; South on Metcalf; East on 199th; North on Broadway; East on Delaware) - Judges Stand will be across from near Stilwell Elementary School. 9:30pm - Fireworks Display. 

Independence Day Celebration: Gladstone, MO July 4 from 7-10pm at Oak Grove Park, NE 76th St. and N. Troost, Gladstone, MO. The Evening Begins at 7:00 p.m. with concert with Mango Yango (Scotty Yates) followed by a concert by the North Star Community Band, presentation of Colors and a magnificent fireworks display at dusk. 

4th of July Celebration at the Pool: Gardner, KS. July 4 from 11am-6pm at Gardner Aquatic Center, 215 N. Center St., Gardner, KS. Enjoy treats and giveaways to the first 200 people to enter. In honor of July 4th, the Gardner Aquatic Center will be letting all military with valid ID and veterans in for free! 

July 4th Celebration: Gardner, KS July 4 from 3:30-10pm at Celebration Park, 32501 W. 159th St., Gardner, KS. Live music featuring Jerrod Niemann, Runaway June, returning favorite Big Time Grain Company and newcomer Rachel Louise Taylor. Enjoy food vendors, out of this world bounce houses, face painting, portable zip lines (minimum weight for zip lines is 70lbs, max 250lbs), interactive entertainment and fireworks! 

Overland Park Star Spangled Spectacular July 4 from 5-10pm at 9711 W 109th St, Overland Park, KS.  Live musical performances will include the Overland Park Civic Band and The Elders, a local Celtic rock band. Food trucks will be on hand all evening, leading up to a fireworks performance once the sun goes down. No pop-up tents or canopies will be allowed. Approximately 9:45 p.m. - fireworks begin. Rain date - July 5 (fireworks only, no concessions or live music). 

Red, White & Blue Springs, 4th of July July 4 from 6:30-10:30pm at Blue Springs High School Peve Stadium, 2000 NW Ashton Dr., Blue Springs, MO. Red, White and Blue Springs, 4th of July Music and Fireworks Once again red, white and blue along with a rainbow of colors with fill the sky in Blue Springs! Live Entertainment! Gates Open - 6:30 p.m. Live Entertainment - 7:30 p.m. Fireworks - Approximately 9:45 p.m. 

Community Days Parade July 4 from 10-11am at Old Town Lenexa, Lenexa, KS. The Community Days Parade is an annual hometown tradition that draws thousands to Old Town to celebrate Independence Day. Our parade is one of the longest Fourth of July parades in the Kansas City area. 

Lenexa Freedom Run July 4 from 7-9am at Old Town Lenexa, Lenexa, KS. $25 when you register before May 31, $30 from June 1 to July 3, $35 on race day. 913.477.7100. We're celebrating the 40th year of Freedom Run! Come join 1,600 of your closest friends and start your Independence Day off with a 5K or 10K. This is a family-friendly event celebrating our country’s independence. We welcome runners, walkers and strollers in the race. 

KC RiverFest July 4 from 4-10pm at Berkley Riverfront Park, Kansas City, MO. Admission at $5, kids 12 and under free. KC RiverFest is the premiere Independence Day celebration in our nation. Located at Richard L. Berkley Riverfront, KC RiverFest has become “Kansas City’s Riverfront Tradition,” known as the only place in Kansas City to celebrate the Fourth of July. Enjoy an afternoon of entertainment including live music, kid activities, street performers, all the food, and of course, fireworks!

Red, White & Blue: Olathe July 4 from 9-10:30pm at College Boulevard Activity Complex (CBAC), 11031 S. Valley Parkway, Olathe, KS. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early and be prepared for high traffic volumes. Parking will be available at: Olathe Northwest High School (21300 College Boulevard), Meadow Lane Elementary (21880 College Boulevard), College Boulevard Activity Center (11031 S. Valley Parkway), Prairie Trail Middle School, as well as CBAC athletic fields, stadium stands, and concession areas will not be accessible during this event. 

4th of July Celebration in Weston, MO July 4 6-10pm Weston, MO. Weston will once again be hosting a fireworks display on the fourth of July! The festivities will start with a parade on Main Street at 10:00 a.m. After the parade, the City Park will have activities and children’s games, including a dunk tank, watermelon-eating contest, and free ice cream provided by the Weston MO Chamber of Commerce. Holladay Distillery will be providing a DJ from 6 to 10 p.m. The Distillery will also have a bar set up outside of McCormick On Main with drinks for purchase. The fireworks display will be put on by the Masonic Lodge at 9:45 p.m. from the bottoms across the railroad tracks and will be visible from city lots. 

July 4th Celebration: Leawood, KS July 4 from 6-10pm at Leawood City Park, 10601 Lee Boulevard, Leawood, KS. Celebration brings to the community. Leawood City Park will be the site for a variety of new and traditional family festivities. Enjoy some great entertainment, participate in games and enjoy a variety of food vendors. Schedule of Events: Inflatables 6:00 - 9:30 pm. Face Painting, Roving Entertainment 6:30-8:30pm. Musical Entertainment by “HotHouse”- 7:30 - 9:30 pm. Fireworks - 9:45 pm. 

Platte City Fireworks Display July 4 from 9:30-10:30pm at Platte Ridge Park, 17130 371 HWY Platte City, Platte City, MO. Fireworks Display approximately 9pm depending on darkness. There will be a shuttle by bus starting 8pm from Harrel Ferrel Parking Lot to Platte Ridge Park throughout the evening. 

July 5

Mahaffie Independence Celebration July 5 from 6-10pm at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm, 1200 E Kansas City Rd, Olathe, KS. FREE. Independence Day 1860s style, complete with low-profile fireworks! Enjoy a concert from the Olathe Civic Band at 7:30 p.m., cookstove and blacksmith demonstrations and stagecoach rides $3/person ages 3 and up. Pie, ice cream and lemonade available for purchase. Decorate your bicycle, wagon or stroller for the annual patriotic parade! 1860s Fireworks begin approximately at 9:30 p.m. You must be on the grounds to view the fireworks as they are non-aerial.
