Douglas County Fair

When: Aug. 5-9

Where: 2110 Harper (Lawrence)

How much: Free admission & parking.

What to do: Petting zoo 1:00-10:00, pony rides 4:00-10:00, demolition derby 7:30, antique tractor show and live musical performances. Saturday features a turtle race, petting zoo and pony rides, Family Day and carnival, pedal tractor pull and barnyard Olympics.

Miami County Fair

When: July 18-26

Where: 1300 N. 78th St. (KCK)

How much: Free admission & parking.

What to do: Youth rodeo, carnival, ATV races, parade, demolition derby, 4H swine show, bike derby, beef, dog and horse show, Barnyard Olympics, kids night full of fun. There will also be a sweetheart crowning and mutton bustin’, crowning of Fair Queen & Fair Princess, and a Chris Cakes breakfast on the 26th.

Johnson County Fair

When: Aug. 3-8

Where: 136 E. Washington St. (Gardner)

How much: Free admission & parking

What to do: Dog show, open youth rodeo, carnival, family fun night, bands in the park, night of fun and challenge, goat milking demonstration, police and firefighter demonstrations, bull blast and barrel racing, parade and demolition derby.

Missouri State Fair

When: Aug. 13-23

Where: 2503 W. 16th St. (Sedalia)

How much: Kids under 12 free. $1 adult admission on opening day.

What to do: See a free circus under the big top, a free comedy Wild West show or a free amazing rainforest act. Enjoy concert headliners like Brooks and Dunn and other big names. Auto races and tractor pulls, rodeo, bull riding

Platte County Fair

When: July 22-25

Where: Fair Grounds Road (Tracy)

How much: Kids under 12 free. Adults $8/day. Free parking.

What to do: Kids games, carnival, petting zoo, 4H events, fiddle contest, youth talent showcase, horse and mule show, horseshoe pitching, demolition derby and truck and tractor pull.
