The store was founded in 1955 by André and Ellsbeth Bollier, who immigrated here from Switzerland to mix up chocolate treats with pure butter, whipped cream and the highest quality chocolate. More than 50 years later, the Bollier family still runs the business and has added a second store as well as a tea room, serving gourmet lunches, pastries and, of course, chocolate. Chip’s Chocolate Factory
This sweet stop is a candy store and a show all in one. Chip’s still uses the same marble tables and copper kettles as it did when it opened in 1983. Schedule a tour and you can watch the house confectioner make fudge, from cocoa bean to finished project, or simply catch a glimpse of the action while you shop.
Chip’s has patented “Kansas City Fudge.” Flavors spanning from cookies and cream to amaretto to the Kansas City Special (vanilla fudge swirled with chocolate fudge and fresh pecans) will make your mouth water if the sweet smell doesn’t get to you first.

Christopher Elbow is a gallery of chocolate. The namesake chocolate maker focuses not just on taste in his confections, but appearance: each candy is a tiny work of art. Russell and Clara Stover began their business in Denver in 1923. When the business went national, Kansas City was one of the first locations to be graced with a store.
