8 Enchanting Excursions Your Little Princess will Love

by

Little girls love princesses. They dream of flowing gowns, living in enchanted castles, and riding in Cinderella’s Carriage. With a little creativity, parents of princesses can make their daughters’ dreams come true.

Here are 8 Enchanting Ideas your little princess will love!

Watch a Classic Fairytale. Choose a live play or a puppet show. This summer the Gladstone Theater in the Park is showing Once Upon a Mattress, a musical version of The Princess and the Pea and the performance is FREE. It’s showing from July 10-12 at 8:30pm at the Gladstone Amphitheatre (76th and N. Troost in Gladstone. 816.436.2200). Or, take in a puppet show. Paul Messner Puppets are performing Cinderella this summer at Unity Temple on the Plaza (707 W. 47th St. KCMO. 816.756.3500), June 17-21, 24-28.

Visit Camelot. Miniature Golf at Cool Crest (10735 E. US Hwy 40, Independence, MO. 816.358.0088). Cool Crest is one of Kansas City’s most beautiful miniature golf facilities with exquisite gardens and Royal Décor. Each golf course is “royally themed” whether it’s Camelot, Kings or Queens.

Make a Crown. Visit Kaleidoscope one of the best FREE family trips in KC (2500 Grand Blvd. KCMO. 816.274.8301). Princesses can make wands, tiaras, and royal treasures. One highlight of the trip is making your own jigsaw puzzle and watching it run through the press where the center piece is shaped like a Royal Crown.

Ride in Cinderella’s Carriage on the Plaza (47th. and Pennsylvania, KCMO 816.531.1999 or 816.531.2673). What princess hasn’t dreamed of riding in Cinderella’s Carriage? In the evening, the carriages are lit creating an extra touch of magic.

Explore a Castle. Make a Day Trip to Wichita to the Exploration Place (300 N. McLean Blvd, Wichita, KS. 316.263.3373). The Kids’ Explore Pavilion features a medieval castle. My daughter was enchanted with the hands-on exhibits as she pumped bellows, rode a “horse,” dressed as a princess, cooked in a fairytale kitchen, and explored the three-story palace.

Visit Prince Charming. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art (4525 Oak St, KCMO. 816.751.1ART) is a FREE family excursion. You will find princesses throughout the art collection, especially in the European section of the Galleries. My daughter makes a point to visit “Prince Charming,” the knight in shining armor, every time we visit the gallery.

See the Royals. Moms can use a little creative license, right? Kansas City is home to the Royals Baseball Team (816.504.4040). This summer, the stadium features a NEW Royal Carousel, a special Kids’ Section, new menu items at the concession stands, and new seats. The best part? This is one royal treat that even Dad and little princes will enjoy!

Last, but not least… Become a Princess. Participate in a Fairytale Princess Camp at the Fairytale Ballet (913.671.7944). Girls dance and twirl as they become fairytale characters. Each camp features a prop workshop and girls take home their own princess treasure!
