How to KNOW You Won a KCParent.com Prize!

I LOVE my job! I LOVE hearing from readers who tell us about the memories they've made and the great things they learn from KCParent.com (the official site of KC Parent magazine), and I LOVE LOVE LOVE giving away great prizes (we give away THOUSANDS of dollars worth of tickets and prizes every year) to our readers and hearing how those prizes brought smiles to the faces of their children and families!

What I don't love??? SCAMMERS!

We recently launched one of our BIGGEST Annual Giveaways and like clockwork... that brings SCAMMERS.

We want YOU to be able to enjoy our FABULOUS AUTHENTIC Giveaways, without being bothered or harassed by scammers. So, with that in mind, here are some tips so you  know what to look for.

How to Know This IS a KC Parent magazine giveaway and whether you won:

  1. ALL of our Giveaways "reside" on the official KCParent.com website (NO OTHER URL should be at the root of a link). We announce ALL winners ON THE OFFICIAL GIVEAWAY PAGE on KCParent.com, and we NEVER solicit your private information. Our Giveaway link: https://kcparent.com/giveaways/kcparentgiveaways/
  2. We EMAIL all winners from an OFFICIAL KCParent.com email address. We do NOT contact you on social media and ask you to do "more things" - we will NEVER ask for your financial information.
  3. We have MORE than 100 social media followers (wink wink). Tip: if you click on the profile of a scammer they typically have less than 5 followers.
  4. We ONLY congratulate the number of winners we announce. When we run a giveaway, we will state the number of winners in the announcement (1, 5, 10 Winners) and we ONLY award that number of prizes. Scammers often congratulate EVERYONE who enters the giveaway (more prizes than we have to give out).
  5. Our ONLY Facebook Page is: https://www.facebook.com/KansasCityParent  AND, we are based in the Kansas City area (in the United States, not a foreign country) and our name on our page is Kansas City Parent magazine (properly spelled and without foreign characters). Tip: if you click on the profile of a scammer they use incorrect spelling and strange names and are usually based in a foreign country.
  6. Our ONLY Instagram Account is: https://www.instagram.com/kcparentmagazine/  - ALSO based in the Kansas City area. Our handle is @kcparentmagazine (properly spelled). 

How to HELP Us STOP Scammers:

  1.  When you are contacted by a scammer, PLEASE click the three dots next to their comment and REPORT it as spam. 
  2. Click on their profile and REPORT it. You can even ban their profile and block them from creating more fake profiles.
  3. Let us know! Message OUR social media page (linked above) and let us know so we can jump right on it to protect our readers.
  4. Enter our Giveaways safely on this KCParent,com link: https://kcparent.com/giveaways/kcparentgiveaways/

We love OUR readers and we never want to see anyone scammed by a fake. We also LOVE knowing our readers have been enjoying fabulous shows, exhibits, stores, and local attractions from our KC Parent Giveaways for decades and we want to continue to give away great prizes.
