iFly Kansas City: An Incredible Bucket List Experience

My family loves adventure! Years ago (before children), it was my New Year's Resolution to try something new every week. The only rules: That it is not unreasonably dangerous, immoral, or illegal. Wanting my girls to grow up with a love of trying new things, we've continued this tradition as a family and make it our goal to try at least one truly new thing every month (sometimes we hit weekly, but monthly is our goal).

Recently, we went on a truly unforgettable adventure and tried indoor skydiving at iFly Kansas City.

This safe and exciting adventure is entirely indoors. Our group ranged in age from 6 years old to over 60. iFly offers a variety of packages for individual, couples and groups. They also offer parties and classes.

Our family did the basic group package. We were greeted at the information desk where we signed waivers. Then, the crew suited up in special suits and helmets and prepared for their introductory lessons.

Our instructor, Jeffrey, went over the basics, showed an instructional video, and then demonstrated the positions you hold in flight as well as the sign language utilized while in flight because the wind tunnel is so loud you can't really talk.

Each student practiced their poses before taking off. After training, it was go time.

One by one each member of group flew for one minute, then the each one went through for one minute longer (2 sessions each for a total of 2 minutes). With suiting up, training, and taking turns - we spent about an hour at the facility. This was the 2 Flights Experience: 2 flights equivalent to 3 skydiving freefalls from 12,000 ft, Flight Gear Rental, Pre-Flight Training, One-on-One Flight Instruction, and Personalized Flight Certificate. You may choose other packages including free falls, Virtual Reality Skydive, Flight Gear Rental, Full Face VR helmet, and more. They also offer discounts for return customers - because you WILL want to do it again!

In the tunnel, Jeffrey is with each flyer the whole time. He helps the flyer to hold the proper position and gives them signals to adjust their hands and legs, or smile for the camera. He worked well with the children and adults alike, clearly explaining each step of the process and insuring they all had a wonderful experience.

My entire family had a blast and they all want to go again! We highly recommend iFly.
