IHOP, one of America's favorite restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner, has partnered with the new feature film Horton Hears a Who to bring Dr. Seuss' imaginative journey of Horton the Elephant to restaurants throughout the US. Through April 20, IHOP restaurants have added four new Horton-themed items to their menu.
Who-Cakes, named after the "Whos" who live on a speck of dust, are a colorful stack of IHOP's shortcake pancakes in all shapes and sizes covered with real boysenberry and blueberry glaze, rainbow chocolate chips and a pink lollipop.
The adult sized Mayor's Breakfast includes a clever play on Dr. Seuss' legendary "green eggs & ham" - eggs scrambled with spinach, ham strips, hash browns and a choice of Who-Cakes or IHOP's original buttermilk pancakes. ($6.99)
Horton stands by the motto that "a person's a person, no matter how small," so for smaller appetites, Jo-Jo's Kid's Breakfast offers a smaller stack of Who-Cakes, one scrambled green egg and a ham strip.
Adventurous guests can wash it all down with a wiggly, jiggly Beezlenut Splash, a fun to drink, thirst-quenching treat of lemon-lime soda with cubes of floating cherry and berry blue Jell-O. ($1.79)
Grown-up fans might prefer a stack of their nut-grain pancakes while my kids love the chocolate pancakes that come piled high with whipped cream and chocolate chips. ($6.29)
While you may go to have breakfast for dinner, an absolute favorite way of dining out for my two boys, you might be surprised to learn that you can order crepes, ($6.99) sandwiches, soup, salad, fish, steak and even pot roast! Everyone's happy. Large portions mean your children can split an order or you can take leftovers home. Many heart healthy, low carb and low fat options are also included on their menu. I encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to order an extra tall glass of orange juice. It's fresh squeezed and for just a moment you'll think you are in the Sunshine State of Florida!
