Kansas City, once a capital for jazz, celebrates its musical heritage at local theaters, concert halls and museums. Celebrate that heritage at 18th & Vine with a visit to the American Jazz Museum and take in live jazz at the Gem or the Blue Room.

Downtown Kansas City is home to historic theaters and brand new state-of-the-art facilities, all offering premier entertainment. The Folly Theater opened in 1900 to showcase vaudeville acts. Now, more than a century later, the theater hosts events like the Folly Kids Series and the Folly Jazz Series, making it once again the crown jewel of the downtown district. A few blocks away in the Kansas City Power & Light District, old meets new as you enjoy live theater, concerts and shows performed at the Sprint Center, Music Hall and the Midland. The Sprint Center is also home to the Grammy Museum Experience, which features educational exhibits where visitors get hands-on with creative songwriting, the art and technology of recording and the history of the GRAMMY Awards.

Adding to the city skyline’s beauty is the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, recently voted one of the most beautiful concert halls in the world. Delight in live shows from the Kansas City Ballet, Lyric Opera, Kansas City Symphony and touring productions in this state-of-the-art facility.
