Start Your Engines and Win a Pedal Car

by

For the last nine months, visitors to The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures have enjoyed the temporary exhibit Pedal to the Metal: Pedal Cars and American Car Culture. Now the museum is giving children the chance to get behind the wheel. On Saturday, June 4, 2016, from 9am-12pm, at The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures 5235 Oak St, KC, MO, 60 children between the ages of 3 and 5 will race a brand new pedal car in one of ten heats. The winner of each heat will be entered into a drawing to take home a pedal car at the end of the event.

For a registration fee of $25, each child (ages 3-5, weighing no more than 66 lbs) will race in one of ten heats and receive a goody bag with a t-shirt and two free admissions to The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures on the day of the race. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times and must wear a helmet when racing.

Race registration is open on a first come, first serve basis. The registration form and liability waiver are now available at toyandminiaturemuseum.org/upcoming. If we are not able to accept your application, we will place you on the waiting list in case of cancellation. Participants must be able to operate a pedal car, which includes pedaling with both feet and steering. Children who are able to operate a tricycle should be able to operate a pedal car. Practice time will be available the morning of the race. Parents are encouraged to bring their children during this time to ensure they can comfortably navigate the pedal car. If a child is not able to fit, the race fee will be refunded.

Pedal to the Metal: Pedal Car Race is generously sponsored by Art of the Car Concours.

The race’s 60 spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration and liability forms available at toyandminiaturemuseum.org/upcoming.
