Watkins Mill State Park is a short drive from the city and provides plenty of playtime for those wanting to connect with nature. Next to the campground is Watkins Woolen Mill State Historic Site, which includes a home and woolen mill preserved to show visitors what life was like in the 1870s.

Located northwest of downtown Kansas City, the park features a campground, hiking and biking trails with a view of the Missouri River, a scenic overlook and more. Spend a few hours in Weston and you will fall for its small-town charm. Children love the Red Barn Farm and Green Dirt Farm, and downtown Weston has some fantastic, locally-owned shops. The Weston Historical Museum, Bonnell Museum and the Lewis and Clark exhibit inside the train depot give visitors a historical background of the town.
