President's Day in Kansas City 2010

   School's Out on President's Day... what a great chance to have fun as a family! Local museums, skating rinks, and children's places are open for the day and many are offering terrific specials in honor of the occasion.

Learn about American History on President's Day!

• Visit the Truman Presidential Library. (500 W. US Hwy. 24. Independence MO) 9am-5pm. Meet Harry S. Truman, as portrayed by historian and re-enactor Niel Johnson (10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), and sample treats from the Presidential Cookies cookbook, home-baked and served by Museum volunteers while they last. • Learn about WWI and American History at the Liberty Memorial WWI Museum (100 W. 26th St., KCMO) 10am-5pm. Have Fun Inside!

• Step into an imaginary world of children' stories at Fairy Tale Village at Crown Center (2450 Grand Blvd., KCMO, Level 1 Showplace of the Crown Center Shops) 10am-6pm. This exhibit is FREE. Children's tales come to life as you walk into a world of make-believe to interact with characters from favorite stories and rhymes. Relive the adventure of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” run safely inside the “Three Little Pigs” brick house, stroll with “Little Red Riding Hood” to grandmother's house and much more! • Right across the street from Fairy Tale Village is Hallmark's Kaleidoscope (2500 Grand Blvd, KCMO). Children create masterpieces in a magical art center full of creative surprises.
