Valentine Bubble Wrap

Natalie and I decided to mosey through Wal-Mart this week to get ideas for her Valentines for her class. I just was waiting for something to inspire me when we both saw it at the same time! The-perfect-item-kids-love-and-have-possibly-never-gotten-on-a-Valentine: bubble wrap! And not only bubble wrap, but PINK bubble wrap -- perfect for Valentine's Day! I still don't know if the clever bubble wrap folks were thinking "hearts" when they invented pink bubble wrap, and we still weren't sure what we'd do with it, but we knew we had to have it! I mean, really, is there anything kids like more than popping the bubbles in the bubble wrap?

So, here's the finished Valentine, along with a printable for you to use! (Unless of course you have a first-grader in Mrs. Pittman's class in which case I'd love it if you could save it for next year!) You can print the Valentine onto card stock and cut it out, and if you have a corner-rounder, go ahead and clip the corners, too.

Then I used my large heart cookie cutter as a template to trace a heart on the pink bubble wrap and cut it out. I used double-sided tape to add the heart (careful not to pop the bubbles, those are for the kids) to the string to become a heart-shaped balloon for popping. I think I will add the cards to a bag of popcorn to go along with the theme, but a Blow Pop or any lollipop or even soda pop would be cute, too.

I hope you'll POP in to say Happy Valentine's Day, too! Enjoy!
