Maybe it’s raining and you need a quick indoor activity; maybe it’s too hot and sticky outside but your kids need some movement. Maybe you’re looking for a kid-friendly and safe alternative to 4th of July fireworks. No matter what you’re looking for, this cheap, easy and engaging craft has you covered!
Supplies:
- Balloons
- Painter’s tape
- Straws (we used paper because that’s what we had, but plastic or reusable will work too)
- Yarn or string
- Scissors

Directions:
- Blow up a balloons.
- Tape a straw to the side of each balloon. (Use at least two pieces of tape to ensure the straw is securely attached.)

- Cut a piece of yarn/string that’s long enough to span the room you want to play in.
- Thread the yarn through the straws so the balloons are suspended from the yarn.
- Tape the ends of the piece of yarn to opposite sides of the room.
- Repeat to make as many balloon rockets as you want.
- “Launch” your balloon rocket from one side of the room to the other on the piece of yarn! You can also tape a few strings from the floor to the ceiling for some added fun.
