Brunch in KC: 6 Delicious Spots to Try This Spring
I don’t consider myself a foodie, but I do love good food—especially brunch. Ever since I was little, Sunday brunch has been one of my favorite traditions. After church, my family always gathered around a table full of eggs, fruit, and cinnamon rolls. My dad’s eggs Benedict still can’t be beat!
When my go-to spot, Benton’s (at the top of the Westin in Crown Center), closed a few years ago, I made it my personal mission to find a new favorite. While I haven’t crowned a replacement just yet, here are 6 Kansas City brunch spots that are strong contenders—and definitely worth checking out.
1. Grand Street Café📍 Plaza & Lenexa
If you love brunch with options, Grand Street Café delivers. Their brunch begins with an appetizer buffet full of goodies—think fresh hummus, seasonal fruit (the watermelon is a must-try!), shrimp, and more. Diners then order an entrée from the menu. I’ve tried the eggs Benedict, chef’s omelet, and chilaquiles, and all were delicious. Save room for dessert from the buffet and don’t miss the warm, gooey cinnamon rolls brought right to your table.
2. Pinstripes📍 Overland Park
A little bit of everything? Yes, please. Pinstripes offers an upscale yet cozy brunch buffet with an Italian-American twist. Carving stations, waffles, made-to-order omelets, and even a chocolate fountain make this a hit with both adults and kids. Plus, with bowling and bocce on-site, it’s easy to turn brunch into a full-blown family outing.
3. Char Bar📍 Westport
For a fun twist on brunch, Char Bar brings barbecue flavors to the breakfast table. Think burnt ends hash, brisket Benedict, and their famous "Pitmaster Poutine." The outdoor patio is a huge plus when the weather’s nice, and the laid-back atmosphere makes it perfect for a casual weekend gathering. Don’t miss their creative cocktails and smoky takes on Southern favorites.
4. The Corner Café📍 Riverside, Liberty & Independence
Though technically not a brunch spot (they serve breakfast all week), The Corner Café earns a place on this list for one reason: their cinnamon rolls. They're huge—seriously, the size of your head—and totally worth the trip. Everything we tried was tasty, from the corned beef hash to the French toast. The prices are super reasonable, and the service is speedy. Just be ready for a short wait on weekends!
5. Eggtc.📍 Kansas City, MO
This cozy spot has a loyal following, and it’s easy to see why. The breakfast potatoes here are unmatched—crispy on the outside, soft inside. Pair them with a pumpkin latte (yes, available year-round!) and you’ve got a winning combo. Whether you’re craving classic eggs and toast or something sweet, Eggtc. is a reliable go-to.
6. Chicken N Pickle📍 Overland Park & NKC
This all-you-can-eat buffet, available until 2 PM, features a variety of dishes including fried chicken & waffles, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, and a taco & fajita station. Guests can also enjoy sweet treats like vanilla bourbon French toast and yogurt parfaits. Brunch is priced at $20.99 for adults and $9.99 for kids. Adding to the fun, free bingo games are held during brunch, or go rent a pickleball court and enjoy yard games! We went recently and the fajita station and homemade mac n cheese were the crowd favorites!
Whether you're a brunch connoisseur or just looking for a new weekend tradition, Kansas City has something for every kind of brunch lover. From buffets to barbecue, cinnamon rolls to shrimp and grits, there's no shortage of delicious ways to start your Sunday.
Have a favorite spot that’s not on the list? Let’s hear it—this brunch hunt is far from over.
