Choose your favorite camp!
A Summer with Frog and Toad. Summer, autumn, winter, spring. Whatever the season, and whatever the weather, Frog and Toad will have a fun-filled day whenever they’re together. Hop on down to the pond and join Frog and Toad through all four seasons as we create our own animal characters along the way. Whether you are planting a garden or going sledding, there’s nothing like a fun adventure alongside your friends.
Audition Lab. Audition Lab is a great way to prepare for upcoming auditions! With the help of a professional teaching artist, students will choose audition monologues that match their age, personality, and individual audition needs. Students will prepare a monologue, develop successful strategies for cold readings, and learn how to create a professional resume. The final class includes a special audition with a member of The Coterie staff for youth roles in the upcoming Coterie season.
Bluey’s Backyard Adventures. Get ready to jump into your favorite stories from Bluey! Join Bluey and all her friends as you pretend to be a doctor, work in a library, drive a taxi, go to the zoo, and so much more. Explore silly characters and games from Bluey while we work together to act, play, and switch to “dance mode” for this tail wagging fun time!
Comedy On Your Feet. This popular Coterie class steps up your comedy game as students explore the wide-open world of improvisation. Students new to improv will learn the framework needed for successful comedy, and alumni will sharpen their comedic skills as they learn about comedy, creating character, and dramatic action. This class offers an opportunity for consideration in The Coterie’s Comedy Master Class.
Enchantment, Myth, and Magic. Get your wands, spells, and magic dust ready because we are exploring the world of enchantment. While creating bold, mystic characters we will explore enchanting literature and create our own legendary adventures. Whether you are a wizard casting spells or a mysterious mythical creature, we need you to come along on this magical ride!
Finding Nemo JR. Based on the beloved 2003 Pixar movie, Finding Nemo JR. brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure. Featuring memorable songs such as “Just Keep Swimming,” “Fish Are Friends Not Food,” and “Go With the Flow,” actors will get to step up to the challenge to bring these popular characters to life on stage.
Funny Bones: Intro To Improv. Get your funny started as you begin to learn all about comedy and improv! This fun and fast-paced class introduces young actors to the wide-open world of improvisational comedy. Students will develop skills in spontaneity, listening, creativity, storytelling, and collaboration as they explore their silly side!
Intergalactic Misfits. Hop into your spaceships and grab your space lasers! It’s an intergalactic call to action! We will create quirky, cosmic characters as we discover new life forms, explore strange planets, and help save the galaxy. Work together with other explorers to create scenes and stories about our oddball characters and their adventures in other galaxies.
Musical Theatre: Triple Threat. If you like acting, singing, and dancing, then musical theatre is for you! In this class, you will perform showstoppers from Broadway—like Mean Girls or Beetlejuice! Students will spend the week exploring character, learning choreography, and singing as an ensemble under the direction of an expert musical theatre actor and an accompanist. Students will perform as a chorus for family and friends during the final class.
My Stuffie and Me. A teddy bear, a bunny, a tiger—no matter what your favorite stuffie is, we want to meet them! Bring your body, voice, imagination… AND your favorite stuffie to class as we explore together each week. Our stuffies will watch us as we work together and join in on our adventures when we need their help!
Out Loud: Create Your Own Play. Let’s get on our feet and team up to write and perform a brand-new play! This is a unique performance experience where students will get a chance to work with a professional playwright to create a new short play, and a professional director to rehearse the show in time to have a world premiere on Friday night!
Percy Jackson & the Mythological. Battling a minotaur or a cyclops is no easy task, unless you’ve trained as a demigod! At Camp Half-Blood we’ll explore Greek mythology inspired by the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series. Ready your shields to start your training!
Puppet Construction. If you like crafting, creating, or technical theatre, this is the class for you. Led by professional teaching artists from What If Puppets, students enrolled in this class will be introduced to puppet construction. To put these skills to the test, the class will create the puppets for The Coterie Theatre School’s summer production of Finding Nemo JR.
Rockstars, Popstars, and Superstars. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live like a rockstar? Would you be a performer like Harry Styles or Taylor Swift? Whether your band is country or K-pop, the real drama happens backstage. Create and act out scenes about what could happen to your musical group as you tour across the country. This class challenges students to sustain characters and develop back-story that informs your performance.
Superheroes Save the Day! Calling all superheroes! It’s time to join The Coterie’s Superhero Training Academy where super students will create their own superhero characters to create our own super stories. Just like Spiderman, PJ Masks, Ladybug, or Cat Noir, find and explore your hidden superpowers as your team works together to save the day.
Trains, Boats, and Things That Go. Chugga, vroom, wee-oo, beep beep! Let’s travel and explore in different vehicles. Whether we take a boat to a desert island or climb into our rocket ships, we are sure to discover amazing sights. Bring your body, voice, and imagination along the way to create stories and characters and share our discoveries with one another.
