My younger, Ally, loves TV. I, of course, limit what and how much she watches, but I do let the girls watch Saturday morning cartoons. One morning I came into the family room as the girls were watching their cartoons and noticed Ally had a piece of paper with some numbers written on it. I asked her what those numbers were and she replied, "Mom, just two more numbers and I'll have the phone number you can call to buy a Happy Napper." Turns out for the past few weeks, every time she saw the commercial for Happy Nappers she would jot down as many numbers as she could in the phone number in hopes that once she had the entire number she could get a Happy Napper. And, well, being that she was only 6, she could only get one or two each numbers with each viewing. After talking with her more, it turned out there were several more products that she wanted that she had "seen on TV." After Happy Nappers she was going to go after the Gyrobowl.
I related the story to my sister-in-law who came up with a great birthday gift for Ally-all "As Seen on TV" products. So, as the owner of several of these products, here is my review of what Ally coveted and received for her birthday:
Happy Nappy-Cute, does what it says, but as with almost all stuffed animals, Ally lost interest in it after about a week.
Gyrobowl-By far, her favorite. She eats cereal each morning and a snack after school in the Gyrobowl. Both girls have tested out the bowl by throwing it down the stairs and running with it and both report no spills. I, however, have been able to get it to spill, but still think it's a pretty nifty bowl.
Wuggle Pets-Overpriced, but cute and does exactly as advertised. However, after making about three pets, the Wuggle pet machine has sat unused.
Slushy Maker-Freezing the cubes to make the slushies takes a while, which is a bit of a buzz kill for kids super excited to make slushies. We used Capri Suns and I thought they were just okay, but the girls liked them. There is an awful lot of shaking involved to make the slushy. Ally got tired and asked me to finish it up for her. I have a feeling this one will fade fast.
Hope this helps as you start your Christmas shopping!
