“Creating magic; enriching lives”. That’s Blue Springs City Theatre. And what is BSCT’s next production? “Charlotte’s Web”!
Directed by LeAnn Burris, “Charlotte’s Web” is an all-children play, written by E.B. White and adapted for the stage by Joseph Robinette.
LeAnn Burris was also the Assistant Director for “Babes in Toyland”, and has played Ms. Teavee in “Willy Wonka” and Mrs. Fezziwig in “A Christmas Carol”-both at Blue Springs City Theatre.
“Charlotte’s Web” is the classic story about a runt pig named Wilbur (played by Brooklyn Tomlin) who is rescued from premature death by a little girl named Fern (Emily Burris), who can hear animal‘s conversations. When Wilbur finds out she is going to be butcher’s meat this winter, she gets help from Charlotte (Lexi Poindexter), a kindly spider who believes in friendship and justice, even to the point of great sacrifice. Charlotte comes up with a wonderful idea to save Wilbur-she plans to weave her heartfelt thoughts about her friend Wilbur, right into her web. But is that enough to work? You’ll find out when you see the show!
All of your favorite barnyard buddies are here, lighting up the stage with their fantastic acting skills: Templeton, Goose, Gander, the Goslings, and the Baby Spiders. You’ll also be catching the outstanding work of our human-character thespians: Mr. and Mrs. Arable, the Zuckermans, Avery, and Lurvy.
Before each play starts and during its intermission, you can buy delicious snacks for yourself, and send “star grams” (a note, plus a piece of candy) to your favorite actor / actress. These only cost $1!
Tickets are $10 per person; $8 for seniors 65+ or children under thirteen. The shows play March 15th-16th and March 21st- 23rd at 7:30 pm, plus March 17th and 24th at 2:00 pm. You can order tickets online at www.bluespringscitytheatre.com.
