Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Event

Join us on Crown Center Square on the day after Thanksgiving to experience the lighting of one of the tallest Christmas trees in the nation!

Be part of this Kansas City tradition with a performance by Youth Chorus KC and lighting of the 100-foot-tall Mayor’s Christmas Tree, followed by fireworks.

Beginning at 6 p.m., Crown Center President Stacey Paine welcomes Mayor Quinton Lucas and Hallmark Stars for the countdown to light the tree.

FREE Admission. 816-274-8444.

The 100-foot-tall Mayor’s Christmas Tree, one of the nation’s tallest, is the centerpiece for an illuminating holiday celebration presented by Crown Center. The tree is a symbol of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, which helps fellow Kansas Citians in need to celebrate the holiday season.

After the holidays, the wood from the Mayor’s Christmas Tree is made into commemorative ornaments, which are sold the following year to benefit the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund. The 2026 ornament, “Merry Skaters,” is available at Crown Center Customer Service, Level 2.

As part of the Hallmark Christmas Experience, tree lightings with light shows and special guests will take place each weekend through Dec. 20:
Friday & Saturday: 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m. | Sunday: 6 p.m.
