- This limited time exhibition – April 20-May 24 – is a highlight of the region’s America250 celebration.
BACKGROUND
Rare original documents on display include a Treaty of Paris Broadside (1787); the Bill of Rights, Senate Revisions (1789); the Louisiana Purchase (1803); and the North Atlantic Treaty (1949).
This is the largest collection of National Archives documents touring America’s Presidential Libraries during its Opening the Vault tour, launched to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary.
The exhibition also includes remarkable artifacts from the Truman Library collection, including Elaine de Kooning’s abstract expressionist portrait of President John F. Kennedy and a portrait of Benjamin Franklin given to President Truman by French President Charles de Gaulle.
