Tanger Kansas City at Legends Celebrates Earth Day with Sneaker Recycling Program and Community Outreach

To celebrate Earth Day, Tanger Kansas City at Legends invites the community to donate their used sneakers – any kind, size or condition – to support its new recycling program. Shoppers can give back by donating a minimum of two pairs of shoes at The Lawn from noon – 4 p.m. on April 24 and 25. Sneakers collected will be recycled through Tanger’s partnership with Sneaker Impact, repurposing them into rubber material for future soft play surfaces and other usable products. Guests who donate will receive a special offer for 20 percent off top brands like Under Armour and Old Navy.

The center is also teaming up with Piper High School to expand its Earth Day efforts even further. As part of Tanger Kansas City’s sneaker recycling program, donation bins will be placed at the school throughout the week of April 20 – 24, encouraging students and faculty to contribute sneakers in any condition for re-purposing.

Tanger will also collaborate with Piper High School’s Earth Club to support the creation of a new pollinator garden, including a donation of trees that will be planted by students and the Tanger Kansas City at Legends management team on Earth Day, April 22.
