What is TBH?
Teddy Bear Hospital USA is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to reducing clinical anxiety and inspiring children to pursue higher education through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. We are a 100% student led organization chartered out of the UMKC School of Medicine. Our inter-disciplinary club creates a space for collaboration between students in the fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and more!
Our mission is to reduce clinical anxiety in children, promote positive healthcare experiences, and foster a love for STEM and higher education! Our events are tailored for elementary aged children K-6, but all are welcome!
The Event
Each child will bring their “teddy bear patient” to different interactive stations and TBH volunteers will help teach about different types of healthcare through activities, demonstrations, and videos!
Kids will learn about different healthcare specialties including: medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, and more!
Our event is also in collaboration with Charlie’s House, an organization that serves as a resource for families seeking safety and injury prevention information. As a result, the mission to prevent accidents and injuries to children in and around the home is fulfilled through increased safety awareness, public education, and the distribution of safety devices.
