SUMMARY:Great Barrier Reef Showing

SUMMARY:Cinderella: A Salsa Fairy Tale
DESCRIPTION:MAR 19 – MAY 4\, 2025 \nBook and lyrics by Karen Zacarías \nMusic by Deborah Wicks La Puma \nDirected by Vanessa Severo \nWhat will happen to Cinderella at the ball … game? That’s the surprising climactic question in this contemporary Latin-American Cinderella musical\, which delightfully turns the classic fairy tale on its head\, telling the story from both Cinderella and the “stepsister’s” perspective. Cinderella\, a newcomer from Puerto Rico\, comes to visit her “stepsister\,” Rosa\, in the United States. The catch … Cinderella only speaks Spanish and Rosa only speaks English. Will these two girls be able to reach an understanding at the (basket) ball game? With a fairy godfather and other delightful twists to the original story\, Cinderella: A Salsa Fairy Tale weaves a subtle lesson on empathy\, sportsmanship\, and respect. Boys and girls will be cheering in their seats. Lauded by audiences\, theaters\, schools\, and academics\, Cinderella: A Salsa Fairy Tale is a groundbreaking bilingual children’s musical from the award-winning team of playwright Karen Zacarías and composer Deborah Wicks La Puma. \nThroughout the run of the show\, there are several special performances: \n– Opening Night: March 21 at 7 pm \n– American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreted Performance: April 5 at 1:30 pm \n– Audio Described Performances with verbal commentary to assist patrons who are visually impaired: April 11 at 10 am and April 12 at 10:30 am \n– Sensory Friendly Performances for neurodiverse audiences featuring technical adjustments\, sensory supports\, house lights on and flexible audience expectations: April 11 at 10 am and April 12 at 10:30 am \n– Hispanic Affinity Performance and Talkback: April 26 at 1:30 pm

SUMMARY:Ripples: Water\, Community\, and You
DESCRIPTION:Open Feb. 8\, 2025 – Jan. 10\, 2026\nWater is the lifeblood of human civilization\, shaping our history\, economy\, and environment. “Ripples” explores how water has connected us all—past\, present\, and future. From ancient inland seas to today’s interconnected watersheds\, humans have always relied on water for survival\, trade\, agriculture\, recreation\, and more. But as we face increasing challenges like historic droughts\, floods\, and pollution\, our relationship with water has never been more complex. \nVisitors to “Ripples” will dive into Johnson County’s award-winning modern water management\, the ways humans have both controlled and been shaped by water\, and the evolving mindset that views water and humans as interdependent. The exhibit showcases the region’s history through interactive displays\, artifacts\, and stories that illustrate the ripples left by past decisions and the ones we continue to create today. \nNow available as a book! Stop by the Museum Store to pick up a copy of “Ripples: Water\, Community\, and You.” Open Monday – Saturday\, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm.
