KANSAS CITY’S 39th ANNUAL SLAVIC FESTIVAL

The 39th Annual Sugar Creek Slavic Festival will kick off the 2-day outdoor celebration on Friday, June 6th from 5 to 11 pm and Saturday, June 7th, from 12 to 11 pm, at Mike Onka Memorial Park, 11520 E. Putnam St., in Sugar Creek, MO, 64054, a suburb just east of Kansas City, Missouri. Admission is $5 for adults, and children 12 and under are free. Grammy nominee and headliner, Alex Meisner, will perform on Friday and Saturday. The Sugar Creek Slavic Festival is the oldest and largest Slavic Festival in the U.S. and over 4,000 attended the event in 2024. It preserves and celebrates the history and heritage of Eastern and Central European communities including Bulgaria, Belarus, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and many families of the various descents that reside in Kansas City. Festival goers can also participate in North America’s largest Kolo circle dance, watch ethnic dance groups, learn about their heritage, listen to tamburitza music, try traditional spirits, and of course feast on Slavic food, from the old country, like Sarma, kielbasa, goulash, Haluska, pierogi, povitica, kolache, kieflie, and many other delicious baked goods.
