Celebrate 816 Day with Us on 8/16
816 Day is the annual city-proclaimed celebration of Kansas City culture, featuring live entertainment, branded events, and special deals. On this day, community connectedness is strengthened by local business and resident pride.
816 Day is named after our city’s area code and takes place yearly on August 16th. On this date in 2018, Mayor Sly James signed Resolution 180592 to celebrate the newest holiday “816 Day,” thanks to a collaborative effort by the Downtown Neighborhood Association and representatives from the 816 Day Planning Committee.
816 Day Downtown Bingo is brought to you by the Downtown Neighborhood Association, KC Streetcar, Art in the Loop, Downtown Council, City Market, and KC Power & Light District.

Danielle Ate The Sandwich | A half hour performance of original folk songs performed on ukulele and guitar. The songs and presentation will cover truth and honesty, exploring topics of family dynamics, grief, heartbreak and the humor we find in those moments. The performance will explore Convivencia through the conflict and harmony of how we live through the human experience.
Danielle Ate the Sandwich is the stage name of Danielle Anderson, a singer/songwriter, recording artist, and comedic performer based in Kansas City, MO. Combining soft, lilting vocals with poignant honesty and wit, Danielle Ate the Sandwich writes songs for the biggest and smallest moments of life. Her songs and performances are a shared experience, celebrating grief, humor, and happiness.
45 Grandos Flamenco | Music, Poetry and Dance come together in this bi-lingual performance that explores different cultures that co-exist in music, rhythm, songs and spoken word.
I am a bailaora/flamenco dancer. Onstage I become transparent. Each performance I shed my shell, put away my mask and expose what I keep hidden in my corners and most secret passageways. I moved to Sevilla, Spain in 2005 to immerse myself in flamenco and stayed for 14 years. In theaters, studios and on the streets I learned with all my heroes and attended performances both professional and impromptu. Performing onstage in Sevilla taught me how to respond in the moment, without fear and from the heart. And now I share those experiences, creating something new from something known.
