We are consistently monitoring announcements by officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about the 2020 coronavirus outbreak in the United States and taking the following proactive measures to help keep our community safe:
- Effective Tuesday, Mar. 17, Powell Gardens and Café Thyme will close to the public and volunteers through Monday, Apr. 3. All public and educational events will be cancelled during this time.
- Staff are adjusting work schedules to limit contact and maintain safe distance from one another.
- Large public events with more than 50 attendees are cancelled through Monday, May 11 in response to recommendations of the CDC and public health officials. Smaller events and classes between Apr. 3 and May 11 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- The gift shop will remain closed through Apr. 30.
- At this time, we plan to open the Gardens for Bloom Fest which will feature art installations and horticulture displays. Large events planned as part of Bloom Fest are cancelled in accordance with CDC recommendations. We will not charge for parking or increased festival admission.
We want to thank our community of members and supporters during this difficult time. Your generosity means even more to us now than ever. Thanks to your support, we are able to take these proactive measures to help keep our local community safe while continuing to maintain the Gardens that will go on growing and changing with the seasons. Now more than ever, the familiar and unyielding rhythm of Mother Nature can provide a calming consistency and remind us that the world goes on even in anxious and challenging times.

Sashay into spring with blooms, bustles, and bulbs! Join us for Bloom Fest, a new festival celebrating the best things about spring. Enjoy a walk through the Gardens and view an artful installation of spring favorites planted in custom-built planters modeled after human heads. Each of the ten planters installed along the walk are impressive at ten-feet tall and are uniquely planted and styled.
Come more than once over the four-week festival and witness the blooms of more than 125,000 bulbs planted in several garden areas.
Enjoy children’s activities and additional events throughout the festival.
