Kansas City’s first-ever symposium geared toward fighting poverty by increasing educational freedom.
Nearly 1 out of every 5 high school graduates can’t read. This is the result of a broken K-12 education system. It’s a top-down model where students are ranked, racked, stacked, and measured against one another rather than encouraged to find their individual dream and unique talents. It’s a one-size-fits-all approach that ignores the individuality of every child. And as a result, more and more students are trapped in a system that fails to meet their needs and ensure every kid can reach their full potential.
Sadly, this system is full of burdens that prevent families from accessing the education best suited for their child. This is especially true for low-income families who lack the financial means to access innovative education available to higher-income families.
School choice helps break the link between where students live and where they go to school. It can disrupt the cycle of poverty by giving children access to higher-quality educational options that will boost their chances of life-long success.
On November 2nd, parents, educators, and advocates will gather in Kansas City to discuss how we can unleash the potential in every kid to help put an end to poverty.
Can School Choice Defeat Poverty? is Kansas City’s first-ever symposium geared toward fighting poverty by increasing educational freedom.
