SUMMARY:Movie Under the Stars - Moana 2
DESCRIPTION:What better way to spend an evening than enjoying a movie under the stars? The Missouri Dept. of Conservation is hosting an outdoor screening of Moana 2 on the nature center lawn. \n\nThe Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has partnered with the Kansas City Police Department to host a series of free outdoor movie screenings at the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center this summer. All screenings are free and open to the public of all ages. Registration is not required. The movies will be projected on an outdoor screen on the south lawn of the nature center.  Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for their comfort. Popcorn and beverages will be available\, provided by MDC.  \nMDC naturalists will provide a short introductory program to connect moviegoers with the nature around them.  \nThe Discovery Center and its nature shop will be open for visitors to explore before and during the movies. In case of bad weather or unexpected circumstances\, the screening will move indoors.

DESCRIPTION:Lanesfield Historic Site is open to the public from 10:00am to 4:00pm on the second Saturday of each month. Admission is free! The limestone schoolhouse\, the last remaining structure in the former town of Lanesfield\, is the oldest operating schoolhouse in Johnson County. Students attended from 1869 – 1963 when the school closed. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. The site today includes the original schoolhouse\, four outbuildings\, and a modern visitors center that houses the exhibit One-Room Schools in Kansas\, a museum store\, and restrooms.
