DESCRIPTION:For 20 years children 3-13 years old have selected holiday gifts for family\, friends and teachers all within a supervised setting at C.W. Parker Carousel Museum\, 320 S. Esplanade\, Leavenworth\, KS. This event will be held on Sat. Dec. 6th from 9AM to 5PM and Sun. Dec 7th from 10AM to 4PM. Gifts are priced at $5 or $7 each and complimentary gift wrapping keeps purchases hidden from curious eyes. Children love this event as it allows them to choose something they think their loved ones will want without the presence of a parent and the gift comes from the heart. For the first time shoppers\, it is important to know what to expect so our “Head Elf” explains the process. Prior to entering the shopping area\, a gift list is completed by the parent with names\, ages (of children) and dollar amount for each gift on the child’s list. Our volunteer elves guide each shopper into the shopping area where gifts are arranged according to category and price. When the shopping has been completed and the gifts wrapped each child receives a free ride on the 1913 carousel\, a bag of Magic Reindeer food\, access to the Kid’s Craft Room and free holiday movies. DESCRIPTION:It’s a taste of the coming holiday season with a “double feature” on the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad’s Smoky Valley Limited! \nOn Saturday\, December 6th our Christmas dinner train will be truly special since it’s hosted by not Santa\, but by MRS. CLAUS\, who takes the spotlight in hosting a great holiday meal! \nThat afternoon there’s a great matinee at the Great Plains Theater featuring “Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn.” The matinee begins at 2:00 p.m.\, followed by dinner on the Smoky Valley Limited’s Eveland Creek car\, which leaves the depot at 5:00 p.m. \nThe dinner and theater package is $120 per person and is available only by calling the Great Plains Theater box office at 785-263-4574. \nIf you prefer dinner without the theatre\, you can purchase your Smoky Valley Limited dinner train tickets at asvrr.org. Mrs. Claus will be there with our caterer\, Broadway Station in Herington. They’ll present a classic holiday season meal\, featuring Italian chopped salad\, your choice of prime rib OR sugar glazed ham\, bacon wrapped green beans and baked potato\, with a generous portion of Mrs. Claus’ cheesecake. Tea or water will accompany the meal. \nOur train will be decked out in lights with holiday decorations and a warm glow in our three classic dining cars. This holiday adventure begins at 5:00 p.m.\, departing from Abilene’s historic Rock Island Depot for a round trip that features a stop at the Hoffman Mill and General Store in Enterprise.
